The good news for busy people is: nothing! Since workers’ comp is a required policy, you don’t have to do anything to renew because it auto-renews each year.
There are a few exceptions to this, however. Some carriers may require updated underwriting, or you may have to make a payment before the renewal goes through.
If you have a Direct Bill policy, you'll need to make your premium payment to your insurance carrier before the renewal date.
On the other hand, for your pay-as-you-go policy, it's important to have at least one payroll run every 30 days to keep it active, to ensure it renews automatically.
