You're purchasing a new policy through NEXT (formerly AP Intego)—that's great news! We're happy to be your broker. If you already have an existing policy with a different broker, you'll need to cancel it. Here are a few important things to keep in mind about this process so that your coverage never lapses and you won't be double billed.
-
NEXT will notify you as soon as your new policy has been issued and your coverage is in place. Take note of the policy effective date and keep a copy of your new policy "declaration pages".
-
Reach out to your broker and let them know you need to cancel your policy. You'll want the cancellation date to be the same as the policy effective date for your new policy.
-
Your broker will provide you a cancellation form to sign and will request a copy of the declaration pages of your new policy through NEXT.
That's it! By following the process above, you won't experience a lapse in coverage and you won't be double billed.
Depending on your insurance carrier, when you cancel coverage before your renewal date you may be charged a "short rate penalty".
If you're keeping an existing policy, but simply need to change the "broker of record" to AP Intego (part of NEXT), we can help. Contact our sales team at 888.289.2939.
